Melanie Park Improvements
Established in 1973, Melanie Park, located at 747 Woodward Ave., is undergoing a design redevelopment process to enhance its amenities and improve your park experience. We know Melanie Park is a key part of the Dorset Park Neighbourhood and we’re looking forward to making some enhancements for you and your family to enjoy. View the draft concept here.
Proposed park amenity enhancements include:
- Tree preservation
- Open grass areas
- Landscape planting
- Pathway improvements
- Children's play area
- Site furniture and signage
- Existing large hill will remain in place
Melanie Park conceptual and detailed design, including project approvals will take place throughout 2024. Construction is forecasted for 2025, subject to Council’s approval of the budget. For information about Milton’s park projects, visit our park development web page.

Multi-purpose court (converts to outdoor rink in winter)
Like many other cities have, including a multi-purpose court (badminton, pickleball, tennis, volleyball) that can be converted into an outdoor ice rink for winter use would provide a space for older children, adults, and families.

Ensure continued maintenance of park
Watering bags at base of new trees are not being used resulting in the need to replace trees unnecessarily / garbage bin locations not indicated / snow removers in winter habitually ruin sod as they don't know where the path is / dog owners allow their dog to run all over the sand area where children play leaving their messes, a sign nearby would be beneficial / could we train grass cutters to run their machines in a way whereby grass clippings are thrown away from the paths rather than covering the paths with grass clippings / after certain long weekends occasionally young people drink late at night, in one instance they thought it was funny to break their glass bottles over the sand area (it took us over an hour to pick up all the glass splinters out of the sand; do you have a system to inspect parks for vandalism?)

Keep the hill - the kids love it. Maybe a big sandbox. More benches/picnic tables. Need courts for pickleball, volleyball, basketball, etc.
