Coxe Boulevard Park Redevelopment

We have formulated the Final Concept to achieve the following goals:

1. Update park elements to meet current standards
2. Improve the function of existing features, including accessibility
3. Repair or replace aging park elements.

Based on operational and community feedback, it has been determined that upgrades to the existing trail and ball diamond will be the primary focus of the final concept. In addition to this:

• New native trees will be added throughout the park for the host of benefits they provide to the community and the greater environment.
• A port-o-let shelter will provide sturdy housing for the port-o-lets which are utilized by ball groups during playing season (mid-May to August).
• Upgrades to the ball diamond are proposed to be similar to those that were completed in Sam Sherratt Park in 2019. Accessibility will be improved via a paved connection to the diamond from the main paved trail.
• A passive trail with impromptu seating and new trees will be added in the southwest end of the park.
• Please note, the soccer fields, playground and sand box are on Halton District School Board property and are excluded from this upgrade project.

The Final Concept is based on Concept A with further refinement occurring through the detail design process.

Background:

Coxe Boulevard Park is approximately 1.58 HA (close to 4 acres) in size and is located at 314 Coxe Boulevard behind E.W. Foster Public School. This established park serves as a trail head for the Sam Sherratt Trail, one of Milton’s longest off-road trail that connects to many other parks, schools, pathways and commercial areas. It currently has one youth ball diamond which is regularly programmed. There is also plenty of open space and mature trees scattered throughout the park.
