Milton is developing a new park, Bowes Neighbourhood Park, at 1321 Trudeau Drive (southeast corner of Trudeau Drive and Whitlock Avenue). Bowes Neighbourhood Park will include the following amenities: multi-use walkways (some with lighting), shade shelter, playground, spray pad, tennis courts, multi-use half-courts, picnic tables, bench seating, and a parking lot. The playground will feature separate junior and senior play spaces, and include climbers, slides and swings. View the Final Concept here.
During the Community Engagement process, requests were made for various sports facilities. Where possible, major sports fields and multiple-court facilities with lighting are grouped together in our larger Community and District level parks where the sport facilities are located further away from residential areas. This helps to mitigate potential noise and lighting conflicts. The Town is currently reviewing existing and future parks to determine appropriate locations for additional sport facilities such as: pickleball courts, tennis courts, cricket fields and cricket batting cages. These recommendations will be included in the capital budget forecast for consideration and approval by Council through the 2025 capital budget process in December of this year.
The Town will be completing an update to the Parks and Recreation Master Plan in 2025. This project will engage an external consultant to create a comprehensive 5 year plan for the future direction of facilities and services that the Town delivers for Parks and Recreation in Milton. There will be an opportunity for public engagement during that process and we encourage all members of the community to participate. Please check www.milton.ca early in the new year for more details including how to get involved.
